You are watching: Can you use ivory soap on dogs

I was told through a vet that ivory dish soap as shampoo. Doesn"t dry out their skin and also it"s cheap. What carry out you men think about this? Any form of dish soap for that matter.

too harsh. I"d opt because that a puppy or infant shampoo. Particularly if over there is a reason for the shampooing.ACV is a quite rinse and is straightforward on the skin/coat. I"d fairly use that than the commercial products out there.

Use dog shampoo. Oatmeal base is a great one. Mane N Tail is okay yet we don"t usage it yet maybe 2x a year. The pH of our skin is different than that of dog skin.

As a groomer I"ll chime in... The only time I ever before use dishsoap for bathing dogs/cats is once you really have to strip out the oils of a coat...like if a pet has actually been skunked, over there is a great "recipe" of baking soda, peroxide, and also dishsoap that works really well at gaining rid the the stink (but it has its price though, will strip color out that a black/dark dog and is exceptionally drying and needs come be adhered to by a remoisturizing treatment at the an extremely least). The baking soda/peroxide division up the skunk enzymes and the dish soap strips the end the oily reisidue that the skunk spray. Periodically pets that have skin/coat conditions that leaving them extra oily or greasy obtain a dish soap bath first and then gain a soothing kind bath next. Various other times you spot use it top top cats v stud tail (no have to bathe the whole cat in it, just the tail), dogs v long, hairy ears that space being treated with greasy ear meds for an infection (cockers, springers) that leak all down the ear, and also once in little bit on dogs who have actually lots that "product" develop up in their coats (although girlfriend can additionally use a vinegar rinse for this too). I additionally use the on pets the are having a bad reaction to flea topicals and also need castle removed. So it has a ar in grooming however not really for the typical pet and also bath. Its as well drying due to the fact that it strips the end the organic oils that the coat. Use a shampoo specific for dogs and what your dog needs at the moment...for instance don"t usage a flea shampoo to be on the safe side (actually don"t usage them in ~ all, they reason all kinds of problems). Remember, no shampoo is walking to deal with a coat or skin problem, the starts native the inside out or trust me, groomers would be rich if we had actually a shampoo that magically cured the itchies, us can help it however not resolve it.
